Honduras Work/ Study Trip 2008

Our Ministry/Goal:
     We are beginning our journey at a small orphanage in La Cieba, Honduras called Niņos de la Luz, or Children of the Light. The orphanage has been working steadily over the years to complete a facility to house the young boys that stay there. They have completed many stages of their project, but are far from finished. We will be aiding in the building of a health clinic among other smaller tasks. Once we are there we will have a fully functional work force that can help finish this much needed facility.

Honduras History:
     Honduras is one of the poorest and least developed countries in Latin America. Well over 2/3 of the country lives in poverty we cannot even imagine. They rely heavily on their exports and tourism for the country's income. In 2005 the exchange rate was 18.92 Honduran Lempira to 1 US dollar.
     In 2005, Honduras reached completion point under the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) initiative, qualifying the country for multilateral debt relief. Honduras has also done well in maintaining its commitments under its 3-year International Monetary Fund (IMF) Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility program.

Cost:
     The total cost of the trip is $2200 per person. Over the next year we will be raising money through grants, fundraisers, and scholarships. If money is a problem, don't let that hinder you. Contact us anyways and we will see what we can do to help you.

Who this ministry is for:
     The age range for this program will be from one year out of high school to 25 years old.
